Room For Everyone
One question that I have gotten a lot from people on their journey in getting into tech is
Can I, with no tech background, get into this field? I think is very important and that the rest of the community needs to know.
For those of you who know about my background, you’ll know that I did not have a formal education in Cybersecurity or Technology before getting into the field. I did 6 months of classroom training and an internship, and I was able to make the move into Cybersecurity. Outside of this internship I did labs and self study, and I know others who did the same. You don’t need to have a formal background to get into Cybersecurity, but you will need motivation and consistency. If I can do it, you can too.
Some of the opportunities that can get you excited as you embark on your learning journey.
The Growth, Lifelong Learning, Flexibility.
The Growth
As you may have noticed, over the past several years businesses have adopted technology in ways they previously hadn't. More and more, services are digitized. It’s safe to say technology is no longer a field, but an integral part of every field. That means there is more need for people to help build, and help secure these services.
Here are some sources that talk about the projected growth for Cybersecurity and Software Engineering.

Lifelong Learning
You will have the opportunity to continuously learn. As technology progresses, it changes. This means having to adapt and learn new technologies and approaches to solving problems.
If you are naturally curious, this is a field for you. Think about it, in other respected fields let’s say the medical field, just about anything new you want to learn you will have to go back to school for. As beneficial as schooling can be, learning on the job is a game changer.
Flexibility
Within a career in technology, gone are the days of a traditional 9 to 5. Most of the time, you have flexibility in your schedule and break up your day. Added with the benefit of remote work, you can see how flexibility can really improve the quality of your life.
I hope this helps as motivation on your journey to getting into tech.
I hope to continue to assist those looking to learn more about Cybersecurity.
